Director’s Den: TCU Youth Summit

Greetings leaders,

I am thrilled to share with you an exciting update from the recent True Colors United (TCU) Youth Summit that I had the privilege of attending in Washington, DC. This conference provided an invaluable platform to further our collective mission of addressing youth homelessness.

Throughout my own journey, I have experienced and witnessed firsthand the immense challenges faced by youth experiencing homelessness. Their vulnerability compels me to constantly seek new strategies, relentlessly pushing the boundaries to affect radical change. It is with great enthusiasm that I bring this spirit of innovation and determination to the forefront of our movement.

The Youth Summit served as a powerful catalyst for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and inspiration. It brought together a diverse range of community leaders, passionate advocates, and courageous youth and young adults who have experienced homelessness themselves. Their voices, resilience, and unique perspectives were at the heart of every discussion, reminding us of the profound importance of centering those most affected by the issue.

During the conference, we engaged in thought-provoking conversations, workshops, and interactive sessions aimed at strengthening our collective efforts to end youth homelessness. Our organization's commitment to this cause was recognized and affirmed, as we shared our lived expertise and innovative approaches with fellow attendees. We also had the opportunity to learn from other dedicated individuals and organizations, discovering fresh insights and potential collaborations that will undoubtedly enhance our impact.

I invite you all to join us on this relentless journey towards a future where no young person experiences homelessness. Together, we can challenge the status quo, disrupt systemic barriers, and create lasting change. Let us continue to be radical in our thinking, compassionate in our actions, and unwavering in our support for our most vulnerable youth and young adults.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication and support in our ongoing mission.

Warm regards,

Marcella Middleton, Executive Director
