Leading with Lived Expertise

Greetings Moment Warriors,

I hope this newsletter finds you all in good health and high spirits as we continue on our collective mission towards housing as a human right. Today, I wanted to take a moment to share with you my personal journey as an emerging CEO, and how my experiences as an alumni lived expert have shaped my perspective on bridging the gap in our movement.

As I embarked on this new role, I realized that my unique intersection of being both a CEO and an alumni lived expert has allowed me to see the immense value in all the roles involved in working towards our common goal. It is crucial to recognize that every individual within our community plays a significant part in the fight for housing as a human right.

In order to truly bridge this gap, we must divest in quarrels and invest in building back relationships. It is easy to give up on people when disagreements happen, but we must remember that it is not about what happens to us, but how we recover. It is through unity and understanding that we can create lasting change.

I have witnessed firsthand the power of collaboration and the positive impact it can have on our movement. By embracing diversity of thought and celebrating the unique perspectives each person brings to the table, we can foster an environment that encourages innovation and growth.

Let us not forget that our ultimate goal is to ensure housing as a human right. This shared purpose should unite us in our efforts, and remind us that our differences should never overshadow the greater cause we are fighting for.

In the coming months, I am determined to continue investing in the work that strengthen relationships and promote unity. Together, we can overcome any obstacles that come our way and create a future where everyone has access to safe, secure, and habitable housing.

I encourage each and every one of you to authentically stay with me in this journey towards building bridges and embracing the value of all roles within our movement. Together, we can make a difference that will be felt for generations to come.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment and dedication to our neighbors. I am grateful to have you all as part of this incredible community.

In solidarity,

Marcella Middleton
